AT THE FEET OF JESUS

Sometimes we feel so helpless when someone we know is in need. What can we do?

We can do what the four friends did. We can bring that person to Jesus and place them in front of him, just as they are. We can bring them to him and ask him to meet their needs – which, of course, he knows much better than we do.

Obviously this isn’t literally, as it was all those years ago when those four friends carried the paralysed man to Jesus. But you can do the same as you pray for those known to you who need Jesus’ healing power in their lives, whether inside or out.

In your mind, picture those who are struggling in any way. Bring them to God and name them before him as you visualise them, lying on a mat at the feet of Jesus. That way, you have done what you can. The rest is up to him.

TALKABOUT

In your family, what sort of things happen that mean you need to forgive or be forgiven? Do you find it easy to forgive one another? Amazingly, Jesus didn’t even wait for the man to say sorry: he just gave him what he needed most. Is that something you could copy in your family?

TALKING WITH GOD TOGETHER

Jesus forgave the man, straight away. Is there anyone you need to forgive or want to forgive right now? Tell God about it, with words in your head, not out loud.
