Don't Buy the LieSample

We buy the lie when we do not see beyond our need

Esau yells, "I'm dying of hunger!" But was he really dying? His need painted a picture of despair. He bought the lie of his emotions and the enemy who wanted to divert him. He sold his spiritual inheritance because of his need.

Focusing on pain, a need or a momentary emotion will always lead us to buy lies. Uncertainty, despair in the midst of need, will lead us to make wrong decisions that will disconnect us from God's plan and purpose for our life. So don't buy the lie and don't sell your birthright. God has something much bigger than a plate of stew for you and however much that represents for your life.

In Ephesians 1: 3-14 we can read about our birthright given by Jesus Christ.

This passage mentions all the riches that we find in it:

• We have received every spiritual blessing.


• We are honored to be chosen in Him.


• We were adopted into his family.


• We receive God's acceptance in Christ Jesus.


• Redemption from our slavery to sin.


• True, eternal and total forgiveness.


• The riches of God's grace.


• The revelation and knowledge of the mystery of God's will for our lives.


• The seal and the guarantee, which is the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

To constantly live without buying the lie, we must stand firm on God's word, we must live by convictions instead of living based on our emotions, and we must learn to discern what a lie is.

Don't buy the lie! Don't sell your purpose for something that will satisfy you momentarily. A momentary pleasure, relief and rest. The image that the enemy puts in front of you does not compare with reality. But I have news for you, the image that God puts in front of you does not compare with future reality either, because He does much more for us than we can ask, think or imagine.

Prayer: Father, I ask you to help me see beyond my need. Lift my eyes to see your plan and your purpose. Thank you for everything I have in you. I don't want to underestimate it. Help me to stand on your truth, live by convictions and learn every day to discern the lies. Amen.
