Jesus Modeled a Life of Prayer

The Bible also shows us prayer as an important habit in Jesus' life. Jesus would often go off by Himself to pray, He would rise early to pray, and He would sometimes pray all night. It is easy to see how important prayer was to Jesus, and how much He loved communing with the Father in prayer.

•  “And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.” (Matthew 14:23)


•  “It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God.” (Luke 6:12)


• “Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” (Mark 1:35)


• “So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.” (Luke 5:16)

If Jesus prayed this much, how much more do we need to pray! 

An important part of following Jesus is learning to pray often like Him. We will experience the incredible closeness with God when we follow Jesus into a life of praying often.
