Heart’s Cry

DAY 2 OF 5

‘Forever I am Yours, You are mine’

I come from a nuclear family with both mother and father present. We are pretty tight knit. You could say, it is a perfect family, although in my opinion, there’s no such thing. The bond I share with my family, would make one assume I would be secure in and of myself. However, this couldn’t be further away from the truth, I have struggled with low self-esteem and insecurities for as long as I can remember.

I found living with these insecurities has caused me to make some unhealthy decisions in the past that I now regret. From being in the wrong relationships searching for validation, keeping certain friends for affirmation or accepting the way people generally treated me because I desired to be wanted. Eventually, you become tired of living this way and you seek for a way out.

This led me to Isaiah 43. It speaks about being God’s possession and highlights a beautiful exchange between God and Israel at the end of verse 1. It came at a very relevant moment. It was exactly what I needed to read. From then on, it has been small steps to believing this view God has of me. Whilst it may have been difficult at first, I now realise the importance of seeing myself the way God sees me.

The situations we encounter on our journey in life can make it difficult to live in this view, but God's word is a constant reminder to prove our worth.

The last lines of the bridge remind me of this season in my life and the repetition ensures I do not easily forget this truth.

Today, I encourage you to take a moment out and let these words, ‘I am Yours and God’s response ‘You are mine’, sink in to you and imagine God speaking directly over you.
