OPENING PRAYER
(Adapted from a prayer written by Cameron Bellm, a writer and mom from Seattle):

Prayer for a Pandemic

--May we who are merely inconvenienced remember those whose lives are at stake.

--May we who have no risk factors remember those most vulnerable.

--May we who have the luxury of working from home remember those who must choose between preserving their health or making their rent.

--May we who have acted in recent days solely in the interest of self hear the conviction of the Spirit for WHO we should serve this day.

--May we who have the flexibility to care for our children when their schools close remember those who have no options.

--May we who have to cancel our trips remember those that have no safe place to go.

--May we who are losing our margin money in the tumult of the economic market remember those who have no margin at all.

--May we who settle in for a quarantine at home remember those who have no home.

--And may we be attentive to Holy Spirit as he calls us to do more than prayer, speak Spirit we are listening and we say our "Yes we will go" first and ask you "how" and "to what" later.

The life, teaching, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is beautiful nonsense. What kind of a supposed king turns himself in only to have his closest friend cut the ear off the arresting officer while all the King’s other friends simply run away? And that crown of thorns, death on a cross, earthquakes, and empty tomb - beautiful nonsense. Join us this Easter Sunday and beyond; we are real people, making sense of life, living the beautiful way of Jesus together.
