Faith
Romans 4:9-25
Faith Alone – Vs 9-12
•Paul asks if God blessed Abraham and credited Him with righteousness before or after Abraham officially became a Jewish person through the sign of circumcision.
•It was faith alone that led Abraham to find favor and blessing with God.
The Blessedness of Faith –Vs 13-17
•God’s promise to bless Abraham and make him the heir of all the was based on Abraham’s willingness to believe and rely on God to do what God promised He would do.
•God removed the law from being over mankind as the way of righteousness and replaced it with faith in the only One who kept the law perfectly, Jesus.
Abraham’s Faith Vs 18-25
•Vs 20…with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform. NASB
•Abraham’s’ faith isn’t really about how strong it was. His faith is about how worthy of faith God is.Vs 21…and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform. NASB
Not Just Abraham’s Faith
•23 Now not for his sake only was it written that it was credited to him, 24 but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, as those who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,
•This Scripture about righteousness and faith was written for us to know and to live by in every aspect of our lives.
•Living life filled with the goodness of God is the absolute best and most beautiful way to live life and that life is a life lived by faith.
Without faith it is impossible to please God for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6
…the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
Galatians 2:20
Are you living your life by faith in Jesus Christ?
…for we walk by faith, not by sight.
