What does a healthy commitment to the church look like?

In this text we see 3 metaphors for the church:
1. God’s people (fellow citizens)
2. God’s household (family members)
3. God’s temple (dwelling place for God's Spirit)
BENEFITS OF CITIZENSHIP
1. It’s the primary way that God shepherds our soul (John 21:15-16)
2. It’s where sanctification takes place (1 John 1:7-10; Galatians 5:22-23)
3. It’s where our gifts are identified and are to be employed (Romans 12:4-6)
4. It's how the church is built up (Ephesians 4:11-16)
5. It's where our calling is affirmed (Acts 13:2-3)
6. It's how you keep an eternal perspective (Philippians 3:17-20; Hebrews 10:23-25)
7. It's where we find comfort in trials (James 1:2-4; 2 Corinthians 1:3-7)
8. It's how Christ is reflected to the world (John 15:12-13)
HOUSEHOLD RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Love one another deeply and sacrificially (Romans 12:13-16)
2. Assemble regularly with one another (Hebrews 10:25)
3. Encourage one another (Hebrews 10:24)
4. Guard One Another (Hebrews 3:12-13)

- We guard and love one another - deeply and sacrificially when we gather outside the larger spaces. Men with men, women with women - family with family - old and young…for the purpose of making disciples who make disciples.
Your commitment to God; your relationship with Jesus is PERSONAL BUT IT CANNOT STAY PRIVATE!
