Unwavering
Josiah was a king who was unwavering in his devotion to the Lord. How can we learn from his example to be unwavering in our own faith?
Josiah removed all the idols and objects of false worship from Judah. He was ruthless in his efforts to remove anything that stole worship or distracted from worshipping God.

What would it look like for us to be ruthless with the removal of idols from our own lives?
Josiah didn't only rid Judah of all false worship, he restored the place of worship. The temple was the place in which God's people were to come and worship him. The temple was the place in which people encountered the manifest presence of God.

What would it look like for us to restore the place of worship in our own lives?
When the book of the law (God's Word) was rediscovered during the repair works on the temple Josiah didn't put it on the shelf, or read it with passing interest. He acted in repentance and returned not just himself but the kingdom to faithfulness to God's word.

What would it look like for us to return to faithfulness to God's word in every aspect of our lives?
Be like Josiah, but it's not the answer...
Remove idols, restore worship, return to God's word. We should seek to be like Josiah and do this. But it didn't save Judah and it won't save us.

Josiah was not the answer... Jesus is the answer.
