The Assyrians were coming
Hezekiah becomes the next king of Judah. 4 years later the Israelite kingdom to the north is no more. It has been absorbed into the Assyrian Empire. Hezekiah has rebelled against Assyrian rule, and King Sennacherib has come to invade Judah.
Hezekiah prepared physically
Hezekiah prepared AS he trusted God. We too need to prepare as we trust God.
Hezekiah prepared spiritually
Hezekiah led the remnant, and led the people back to the Lord. He shored up his spiritual defence, by reinstating worship to the Lord and removing idol worship.
We too can be strong a courageous by putting on our spiritual armour.
Prayer was part of Hezekiah’s preparation
Prayer prepares us for battle.
God answered Hezekiah’s prayer, the Assyrians were annihilated. God protected them on every side.
The Enemy Was Prepared Too
The enemy wants us to doubt. He will ask, “on what are you basing your confidence?”

Then enemy wants to tempt us with his power.
The Enemy Will Persist…But God is the Greater Power
Sennacherib was persistent and he used different tactics. He bragged about how great he was. But God is the greater power, and he out-persisted the enemy. God conquered and won the day.
We can be assured that God will conquer the enemy for us too.
God is the greater power, and we ARE conquerors through him. Christ won the war at the cross.
Are you prepared?
Say this to yourself: I will not be afraid or discouraged because my enemy is surrounding me. With me there is a greater power, than with the enemy. With the enemy is only the arm of flesh, but with me is the Lord my God to help me and to fight my battles. I will be confident in the Lord, so that I will be strong and courageous under siege. I will be strong and courageous.

Life Group Discussion Questions Below

As our life groups gather this week, we have attached our reference verse and some questions to prompt a deeper discussion and search into this week's topic.

If you are not currently part of a life group, and would like to join a small group of like minded people in fellowship and connection during the week, please contact Nick on 0417472474 to register your interest.
Discusion Questions

1. What preparations have you made physically for life in the future? Is there a balance between trusting the Lord, and preparing for the future? How can we achieve it?
2. If we put on our spiritual armour (Eph 6:10-20), how would that prepare us to face each day?
3. Discuss the quote from the War Room, “A lot of people don’t pray because they don’t believe it works. But unfortunately it doesn’t work because we don’t really pray.”
4. Have you had an answer to pray? Have you had times when you feel like God hasn’t answered?
5. How has God out-persisted the enemy in your life? How has he shown that he has the greater power?

Take some time to pray for one another as you feel lead.
