1 Timothy 4:12b says, “...set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”

Forgiveness is essential to the gospel message of Jesus. Hateful speech is the exact opposite of forgiveness. It strikes at the heart of the gospel.

"Honor widows who are truly widows." (ESV)
"faithful to her husband" = one man kind of woman (does not imply divorce)
Good deeds are an outward expression of her faith in Jesus.

If you're serving under someone, you should respect them because of your faith in Jesus.
