How A Kaleidoscope Works

The word kaleidoscope is derived from the Ancient Greek καλός (kalos), “beautiful, beauty”, εἶδος (eidos), “that which is seen: form, shape” and σκοπέω (skopeō), “to look to, to examine”, hence “observation of beautiful forms.”
A kaleidoscope is made of two or more mirrors or reflective surfaces positioned at an angle to each other, usually forming a V-shape or a triangle. The case is the body surrounding the mirror assembly. A collection of objects is positioned at one end of the mirrors, and there’s an eyehole at the other end.
What you see when you look through that eyehole will never be exactly the same twice. While the container holding the objects is often as large as the kaleidoscope tube, only the portion of the objects that fall within the space of the triangle within the object holder is reflected.(from https://www.kaleidoscopesusa.com/how-kaleidoscopes-work/#)

BIG IDEA
God’s plan is for the world to see through the church (even in our broken pieces) the reflection of the beauty and glory of God.

Do you have a prayer request?

If you are in trouble, let us pray for you. If you are happy, let us rejoice with you. Prayer is an important and active ministry in our church’s life. We consider it a privilege to partner our faith with yours as God is invited into life’s circumstances.

THIS WEEK'S READING PLAN
Hills Church uses the "SOAP" method of Bible Reading and Journaling. S.O.A.P. journaling is a simple and excellent way to both record and process what God has spoken to you. It’s also a useful tool to use at a later time when you want to reflect on and review some of the ‘gems’ that you have received.

S for Scripture
Open your Bible to today’s reading (according to whatever plan you are following). Take time reading and allow God to speak to you. When you are done, look for a verse that particularly spoke to you that day, and write it in your journal.
O for Observation
What struck you and caught your attention in what you read? What do you think God is saying to you in this scripture? Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and reveal Jesus to you. Paraphrase and write this scripture down in your own words.
A for Application
Personalize what you have read, by asking yourself how it applies to your life right now. Perhaps it is instruction, encouragement, revelation of a new promise, or corrections for a particular area of your life. Write how this scripture can apply to you today.
P for Prayer
This can be as simple as asking God to help you use this scripture, or it may be a greater insight on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say! Now, write it out.
This week will look at the work of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament. The words "breath," or "wind" ("ruach" in Hebrew) are often used to describe the work and function of the Holy Spirit.
