Jesus: Actually
We talk a lot about Jesus in the church. He constantly comes up in the songs we sing, the prayers we pray, and in our regular conversations. But who was Jesus, really? What made this carpenter from Galilee the most influential and controversial figure in all of human history? Join us as we dig into who Jesus the man was…and why we follow him as Jesus the King.

Jesus as God
The central claim of the Christian faith is that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. That Jesus is God come to earth, God living a human life, God being tried and tempted in the same way all people are, God dealing with human issues like stubbed toes, skinned knees, chapped lips, betrayal, being abandoned, and even facing death - and raising to new life from that death - ushering in a new way of living, and a new world to come, through this life and resurrection of God in flesh.

At this time there was a wise man called Jesus, and his conduct was good, and he was known to be virtuous. Many people among the Jews and the other nations became his disciples. Pilate condemned him to be crucified and to die. But those who had become his disciples did not abandon his discipleship. They reported that he had appeared to them three days after his crucifixion and that he was alive. Accordingly, he was perhaps the Messiah, concerning whom the prophets have reported wonders. And the tribe of the Christians, so named after him, has not disappeared to this day.

[Jesus]…having there acquired some miraculous powers, on which the Egyptians greatly pride themselves, returned to his own country, highly elated on account of them, and by means of these proclaimed himself a God.

Look at everything –
God, one another, the world,
and our own lives –
through the lens of Jesus.
It’s only when we view everything through him
that the picture becomes perfectly clear.
