Heartland Community Church
Sunday Worship February 10, 2019
The smallest things often make the biggest difference: a shifting foundation can bring down a house, a small spark can ignite a huge fire, a simple act of kindness can change a life, or a single word can change someone’s eternity. We place a lot of emphasis on the big things, but they all start with little steps. Join us as we look at the small, seemingly insignificant, things Jesus did that make all the difference in our lives today.

Youth Group Missions
Plans are underway for a Youth Group Mission Trip to Eureka Springs, AR from July 7th-13th. The youth will be working with missions organization TEAMeffort.

From TEAMeffort’s website, “In the small towns and rural areas in the Ozark Mountains are people who quietly live in deplorable conditions with little hope of change. Youth groups will find this summer mission camp heartbreaking at first as they see the destitute conditions in which people live, but that work will soon become heartwarming as they see the difference they can make in someone's life. Reaching out to help these struggling families fix and maintain what little they have brings them a message of Christian caring and service that will open their eyes to Christ's love. Group projects during this summer mission camp will be a mixture of roofing, painting, wheelchair ramp construction, and general clean-up and repair.”

Fundraising for the trip will soon begin. This is a wonderful way for the kids to see that even they can make a huge difference in someone’s life for the Kingdom of God. Please help support them as you feel led.

Sermon Notes & Scripture
Small Things, Big Difference
Plugged In to Pour Out
Matt Schaffner
The rhythms and habits of Jesus' spiritual life shaped and powered His ministry.
Jesus' spiritual life disciplines (so far!):
1) Solitude & Fasting (Luke 4.2)
2) Scripture Memory (Luke 4.4, 8, 12)
3) Corporate Worship (Luke 4.16)
4) Solitude & Prayer (Luke 4.42, Mark 1.35)
Jesus' ministry was grounded in relationship with the Father, intentionally sought in prayer and solitude.
The rhythms of Jesus' spiritual life enabled His ministry, but were rejected by the crowds.
The crowd sought Jesus out and begged Him to stay, but they didn't understand His mission.
Jesus always chose to be faithful to the Father, instead of being successful according to the crowds.
Jesus was sent to preach the good news to everyone, everywhere. No one but His Father could define His mission!
Jesus chose to remain plugged in to His Father so that He could pour out in ministry and fulfill His mission!
You've been called to make a difference in your world, so plug into Jesus so you can pour out!
Monday is coming!
What happens Sunday is only as meaningful as what you do with it the rest of the week. God made us for more than merely surviving, but it requires our choosing that path. Jesus taught us that the only way to effectively minister is by plugging in to the Father so we can pour back out. This week join us as we explore prayer habits to keep you plugged in so you can pour out!
