Overwhelmed: God, Is This a Test?
Welcome to Grace Chapel! We all deal with anxiety, worry, and depression in some way from time to time. Life is full of overwhelming emotions that cause us to be gripped with fear and miss seeing that Jesus is loving and caring for us in the midst of our trial. In this message we talk about keeping a sound mind and remaining focused on Christ.

Overwhelm defined: to bury or drown beneath a huge mass; to defeat completely; to give too much of a thing to (someone); inundate; have a strong emotional effect on; be too strong for; overpower.
I shouldn’t be afraid of God testing my heart; rather, I should welcome the chance to be KNOWN by Him.
Trusting God in times of turbulence demands that you to cling to what is TRUE.
We allow our fears to mushroom and metastasize within our imagination.
Making sense of our emotions requires reliance on God’s POWER.
A sound mind sees ANXIOUS moments as an opportunity to seek Christ.
Paul David Tripp, “I want the [anxious] person to remember that God is near, that He is present, that His grace reaches to the depth of those struggles—rather than if you do this, this, and this, you can become unanxious.”

• Memorize 2 Timothy 1:7, For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
• Make a list of things that cause me anxiety and fear and prayerfully give them to God.
• Go to HopeOfDenver.org and submit a request for free biblical counseling
• Identify what I may be exaggerating in my mind and ask a friend to help me see the reality of the situation
