Sermon Title: Are You Pursuing the Right Righteousness?
Passage: Romans 10:1-13

Introduction

Romans 9:30-10:13

1. The Jews were pursuing the wrong righteousness. (vv. 1-4)

a. Paul was deeply concerned for the salvation of the Jews. Romans 9:2-4

b. He did not doubt their religious sincerity. Galatians 1:13-14

c. They were pursuing the wrong righteousness. Isaiah 64:6

d. Christ is the culmination of the law and the source of right righteousness.

2. What does it mean to pursue the right righteousness? (vv. 5-10)

a. Anyone who relies on the law must live perfectly by the law. Leviticus 18:1-5; Galatians 3:10-13; James 2:10

b. The right righteousness comes by faith… Deuteronomy 30:8-14

c. …in the simple gospel.

3. The invitation to right righteousness comes through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (vv. 11-13)

a. Everyone is invited to spend eternity with God, but not everyone will accept the invitation. John 3:16; 2 Peter 3:9

b. Only those who declare with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that God raised Him from the dead will be saved.

Application

1. Are you pursuing the right righteousness or the wrong righteousness?

2. If you’ve made a commitment to Christ, recommit to Him today, not just as Savior, but also as Lord of your life. And pray for a heart for the lost. 1 Peter 3:15

3. If you’ve not made a commitment to Christ yet, take a step closer today. Better yet, make that commitment! Matthew 11:28-29

Youth Group
Youth Group meets in the back of the coffee shop during service except on the 1st Sunday of the month to participate in communion. Youth Group also meets on Sunday evenings at the church from 4:00-5:30pm. Contact Val Semich for more information.
