Perpetual evaluation leads to perpetual momentum.
Religious momentum is easier to evaluate.
Redefine where I want to see momentum.
Spiritual momentum is found in relationship.
Humility is the fuel to spiritual momentum.
Compare to the goal not the now.
START TALKING

When have you had to constantly be evaluating something if you wanted to see the momentum continue? When have you seen momentum in something lost or go the wrong way because you stopped paying attention to it and stopped evaluating it? (Gas gauge? Grades? Weight loss? Finances? Etc.)
START THINKING

Read Philippians 3:4-6. Reword or rewrite this as if Paul was a modern day church member or church leader. What might be the things he would list here for the reasons to have "confidence" or think that he might have "momentum"?

Read Philippians 3:7-11. Is Paul saying that those things he previously listed are in and of themselves garbage? Why or why not? What is the point or purpose of this comparison? Read Isaiah 64:6. How is this verse similar and how does it help understand what Paul is teaching?
START SHARING

Read Philippians 3:7. What are some things that you may have considered gain before Jesus, or if you take your eyes off Jesus what are those things that you might consider as gain? What have you gladly or willingly considered "a loss" for the sake of pursuing Jesus in your life?

How have you experienced growth in your relationship with Jesus? How do things that might be considered religious metrics still play a role in helping you gauge how your relationship is growing? As you have grown to know Christ more and better, how has it resulted in a change of the way you live, instead of the other way around where you try to change behaviors on your own?

Read Philippians 3:12. Is this kind of humility encouraged in most of today's religious circles? Why or why not? How can we encourage this kind of humility in our relationships with each and within our microchurch?
START DOING

Read Philippians 3:13-14. What is the goal that you pressing toward this week? How will you do that?

What are you going to do this week to perpetually evaluate your relationship with Jesus? What can you be measuring to ensure that you are growing in your relationship with him and to become more like him?

The result of Paul's perpetual momentum and growth in his relationship with Jesus is that he told the story of Jesus and his own life-change to anyone that would listen. How can this be a measure of your own momentum? How can you find ways this week to do that and to whom can you share your own story with?
START PRAYING

Pray for each other in the micro church to continue growing in your relationship with Jesus and to see momentum in the area that matters most - your relationship with Jesus!
