THIS PRESENT TIME #35 12.10.23
What Will Heaven Be Like?

Revelation 21:1-5 NIV Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth”, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” 5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

The End of The Road

1. Revelation 22:10, 11 NIV Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near. 11 Let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy.”

2. All that we need to know has been revealed. Our decision must be made.

3. A Great Division is coming!

4. It is appointed unto man once to die, and after this the judgment.

5. Understand the only things we can know about Heaven or Hell is by Divine Revelation — and there is a very limited amount that has been revealed.

6. Return to the basics. As the destination draws nearer, it needs to become clearer. The road to Memphis…

7. January 31, 2023 - “What Will Hell Be Like?

8. Thanks to R.T. Kendall, Jack Hayford, and Dr. Ray Levang for creating this grid we use to discover facts about Heaven and Hell.

Let’s use three lines of approach to discover what Heaven will be like.

1. What Scripture reveals will not be in Heaven.

2. What Scripture reveals will be in Heaven.

3. What Scripture says about how to get to Heaven.

I. Things that will not be in Heaven.

A. Tears
B. Trials

C. Testing

D. Temptation

1. St. Augustine - Man was created able to sin. Subsequently he was born not able to not sin. When he is born again, he is able to not sin. In Heaven, he will not be able to sin.

2. We are delivered immediately from the penalty for sin. We grow to learn how to break the power of sin. One day we shall be beyond the possibility of sin, for we shall be like Him!” And “So shall we ever be with The Lord.”

E. Trouble

F. Turmoil

G. Trust

H. Toil

I. R.T. concludes his list by saying also that “in Heaven there will be no tithing.”

1. He speaks of no more opportunities for service and stewardship, at least in the earthly sense.

2. Our stewardship will be rewarded in Heaven.

3. There will be some sense of service there, but it will be based somehow upon our stewardship here.

II. Things that will be in Heaven

A. The Full Glory of Jesus (For we shall see Him just as He is).

1. Fanny Crosby’s testimony

2. The testimony of The Innocents

B. Full Understanding
C. Full Restoration

1. “Righteousness and Justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.” Psalm 89:14

2. Complete and Perfect Vengeance

D. Full Reunion

1. As Old Testament Saints longed and looked ahead for Messiah — we long for our loved ones and look to be united with them. Every celebration pulls us to that day and place of full restoration.

III. Further thoughts about Heaven

A. Every one of us can go to Heaven!

B. Not everyone who talks about Heaven will go there — because there is only one way.

C. “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ Blood and Righteousness! I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ Name! On Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand!”Edward Mote (1797-1874)
