Sermon: Finding God’s Peace in Jesus, and Living in the Peace of God

Introduction

“No Jesus and no peace; Know Jesus and know peace.“

1. To make peace with God.

A. Luke 1:67-79; Isaiah 9:1-2

B. Because we were children of God‘s judgment and wrath. Ephesians 2:1-3; 4-7

C. Faith in Jesus gets us right with God because we were his enemies. Romans 5:1-2; 8-10

D. Only by faith can we find peace. Hebrews 11:6

E. The King of peace sent into the world: the Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6-7

2. To find and live in peace within our hearts.

A. You must believe God’s promises. John 14:1-3; 25-27

B. Peace is not the absence of trouble, but the presence of God in the midst of the trouble. John 16:33

C. Praying for help for your anxieties and fears. Philippians4:6-7

D. Trusting the Lord with our hearts. Proverbs 3:1-6

E. It is a consistent trust. Isaiah 26:3-4

3. And extending peace to others.

A. To do what you can to be at peace with others. Romans 12:17-19

B. By faith sowing seeds of peace. James 3:18

Application thoughts:

1. If you have never had peace with God, then make things right now.

2. If you have God’s peace, then it’s important to remember and be thankful.

3. If you are a believer and are not experiencing peace, then repent and ask forgiveness. 1 John 1:9

4. This Christmas try to make things right with someone who has been difficult for you in your life.

Men's Gathering - December 21

Men, join us for an evening of fellowship at Barrels and Bottles at Camp George West on Thursday, December 21 at 6:00pm. These gatherings are a great opportunity for men to connect, grow in our friendships, and encourage each other in our walks with the Lord. Looking forward to catching up!

Christmas Services - December 24

Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday this year. So, on December 24, we will have our normal Sunday morning service at 10:00am and a special, candlelit Christmas Eve service at 4:30pm. Please join us as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Salvation Army Bell Ringing - November 24 thru December 24

Gather your family, friends, or small group and come ring the bells for the Golden Extension Unit of the Salvation Army! Ringing takes place at the Golden King Soopers from November 24 - December 24 and at the Golden Safeway from December 17th - December 24th. Ringing slots are two hours. You can sign up using the Sign Up Genius linked below. This is a great activity for families; you could even share the slot between two or three families. All the money raised stays in Golden and is used for temporary rent assistance in order to keep people in their homes. If you have questions, you can contact Jennifer Wilson at jjwilson1to6@msn.com.

New Life Group

We have a new life group gathering interest for meeting on Tuesday nights at 7:00pm beginning in January. Please talk with Tim or Lauren Popp if you are interested in finding out more. Email: lauren.b.popp@gmail.com

New Men's Bible Study

Beginning in January there will be a new men's Bible Study meeting twice a month (likely a Tuesday or Thursday morning) to discuss the book “The Man Maker.” The book focuses on developing godly character as men and carrying that into the next generation as we parent our children. Women's Ministry: The bi-weekly, Saturday Women of Hope Bible study is taking a break throughout December and will resume meeting on Saturday, January 6th at 9:00am. Please contact Andrea Flack (amflack@icloud.com) or Jane Banzhaf (janeb53@msn.com) for more information.

Men's Ministry: The Men's Bible study meets at the church every Saturday at 10:00am. Please contact David Eicher (deicher24@hotmail.com) for more information.
