GIVING IS THE NATURE OF OUR GOD
LAW OF RECIPROCITY
LAW OF SELF-ADMINISTERED RETURN

KEY: Our giving has nothing to do with our salvation or ultimate relationship with God. These verses create nothing of a “works” program because our learning to give has nothing to do with our earning God’s pleasure.
BUT - giving does have to do with seeking to learn GOD’S WAYS!

While we don’t have to earn HIS PLEASURE in order to be saved, we do need to learn HIS WAYS in order to grow in ABUNDANT LIVING.
Grace and Glory cannot be BOUGHT, but they can be CAUGHT.

The SPIRIT OF THE GRINCH (spirit of getting) causes:
· People to not have friends because they don’t offer friendship
· People to not feel forgiven because they will not give forgiveness.
· People who don’t find CONTENTMENT because they won’t accept God’s PROVIDENCE.
Just as in the Grinch, their hearts need to grow!

The BITTERNESS OF CRITICISM, the PETTINESS OF JUDGMENTALISM, the QUICKNESS TO CONDEMN and the SLOWNESS TO FORGIVE are crowded out of a heart that is full of LOVING AND GIVING.
The act of giving must be tied to our growth and purity of CHARACTER.
They tithed to the PENNY but their souls were PUNY.
God views giving that is purely legalistic performance as useless and unacceptable.

The same smallness of heart that manifests in judgmentalism, condemnation and unforgiveness can also cause us to live in STINGINESS or even the FEAR OF GIVING.
There is a huge difference between KNOWING the truth and BELIEVING the truth.
