The story of the Ephesian church has an epic, tragic, poetic arc of a people who loved Jesus deeply and drifted. While you won’t find this in a specific verse, if you follow the arc, you will see. The church mentioned in Revelation is not like the church written to in Ephesians. Same people, different spirit.

A passionate, fiery love for Jesus must be maintained daily. It’s not our salvation that’s fragile - it’s our zeal, because that flame can go poof in a lifetime or a week.

Scripture is as much for us as it us about us. Resist the temptation to take things personally and miss the point. Resist the potential of being insulted when you should be instructed.

This does not indicate inferiority of women. It does not mean husbands are all powerful, or put the wife in the position of driving from the back seat as she decides if he is in God's will.

One writer said, "It does not define the extent of a wife’s submission or the limit of a wife’s submission, it defines the motive of a wife’s submission.”

The world's leadership and Christlike leadership are entirely different.

· Eros - Driven by desire.
· Philia - Driven by common interest and affection
· Agape - Driven by the mind.

A man's love for his wife is to be sacrificial and a picture of cleansing.
