Holy Smoke_Nothing to See Here

Throughout scripture God often reveals himself and His power through fire. From His conversation with Moses in the burning bush, to the pillar of fire as He led the Israelites through the wilderness. From answering Elijah’s prayer by sending fire from heaven to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah for their wickedness. Jesus then tells of a new expression of God’s presence in the form of the Holy Spirit. This gift, this promised counselor, shows up at Pentecost and we are given the assure that God is always with us. As our hearts burn within us as they did in the hearts of those on the road to Emmaus, there remains a Holy Smoke. And where there is smoke there is fire!
