Big Idea:
To be in unity with Jesus and one another, we must learn to walk in forgiveness.

The main question regarding forgiveness:

What is my motive?

Forms of Unforgiveness:

- Revenge
- Hate
- Verbal Abuse
- Divorce
- Rejection and avoidance for punishment's sake
- Withholding good
- Transference of affection
- Prejudice, bigotry, racism, sexism
- Bitterness
- Internally wishing for bad things to happen to someone
- Praying against someone

1. Permanently forgiving all debt and bringing the balance to zero

3. Permanently forgoing all expressions of private and public judgement

Understanding what forgiveness does NOT mean:

Forgiveness is spiritual warfare!

Practical Spiritual Warfare:

- Don't go to bed angry
- Deal with offenses and hurts daily
- Don't take up other's offenses
- Don't rehearse and nurse hurts
- Reverse hurts by forgiving, blessing, and loving your enemies
- Don't justify unforgiveness, self-pity, or bitterness

Take-Aways:

- The poison of unforgiveness damages the vessel it is stored in
- Forgiveness does not make the offender right; it just makes you free
- Forgiveness is one of the most self-loving things we will ever do

Prayer for Forgiveness:

Lord JESUS, help me to forgive and bless, rather than relive and stress. I am lifting up any bitterness or accumulated offenses to You. I release it all into Your Hands. In JESUS’ Name, Amen.
