Jesus makes an open invitation to everyone who wants to step out in faith and experience something more of the power and presence of God. His is an INVITATION TO GROW!

Peter’s experience is a picture of doing with God’s help what I could never do alone.
When we talk of following Christ, we are not called to be risk takers for the sake of risk, but rather, ADVENTURERS who live in the moment of EXTREME OBEDIENCE.
Accepting Christ’s invitation to Walk with Him means:
· Facing your fears and choosing to not let fear have the last word.
· Discovering and embracing the unique calling of God on your life.
· Experiencing the power of God in your life to do something you would not be capable of doing on your own.
1. There is always a CALL

The call of God is always God inviting ordinary people to walk in a life of extraordinary TRUST and OBEDIENCE.
God’s calling comes from His love for us and is a reflection of who He is.

God is more interested in a LOVE RELATIONSHIP with you than He is in what you CAN DO for Him.

· We are all called to know God, to receive his love and mercy, and to be his children.
· We are called to live in the reality of His kingdom and to have Christ formed in us.

We are HIS PROJECT, not the other way around.

Ephesians 2:10

God’s calling leads to assignments that always honors your RAW MATERIALS.

Discerning the ASSIGNMENT is more about LISTENING than it is CHOOSING.
2. There is always FEAR

Isaiah 43:1-3

As a follower of Christ, the ULTIMATE VALUE of your life is not COMFORT.

FEAR never truly goes away as long as I continue to GROW.
3. There is always REASSURANCE
HUMAN EXTREMITY IS THE FREQUENT MEETING PLACE WITH GOD.

God had to get PEOPLE’S ATTENTION as He was going to call them to an EXTRAORDINARY TASK.
4. There is always a DECISION to make.

If I get out of the boat, there’s a good chance I might sink.

But, if I don’t get out of the boat, there’s a guaranteed certainty that I will never walk on the water.
5. There is always a CHANGED LIFE.
I believe in each of us there is something, someone (Holy Spirit) who tells us that there is MORE TO LIFE than sitting in the boat.

You and I were made for something more than merely AVOIDING FAILURE.
It’s not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena…who, at best, knows in the end the triumph of great achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly. So that his place will never be with those cold timid souls who know neither victory or defeat.
