UNITY OVER UNIFORMITY (VERSE 1-5)

SCRIPTURE

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:1-5, ESV

Harmony is the idea of multiple pitches blended together to make something beautiful.

HOW DO WE WALK IN HARMONY?

1/ Christians are to avoid selfish behaviors.

2/ Christians are to embrace selfless behaviors.

“Humility is not thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less.” CS Lewis

Harmony with others is directly related to seeing ourselves in the proper light.

Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment. Romans 12:3, NIV

SHOULD THERE ALWAYS BE HARMONY?

1/ There are some points of discussion that should always be negotiable.

2/ There are some points of discussion that should sometimes be negotiable.

3/ There are some points of discussion that should never be negotiable.

WHAT ARE THE INTENDED RESULTS OF HARMONY?

1/ Harmony results in everyone having an individual expression.

2/ Harmony results in everyone having a bond of unity, love, and honor.

3/ Harmony results in everyone having power from heaven.
