Big Idea: Everyone knows how to get to heaven, but most people don’t know how to make it to Thursday.

The Seven Woes

1. Our actions block people from seeing Christ for who he truly is.

2. “Religion” deadens the soul.

3. We do not value that which is truly sacred – instead we swap it out for cheap replicas.

4. We focus on things that come easy to us, but stumble on the hard parts of following Christ.

5. Our desire to be known as “holy” keeps us from becoming holy.

6. The mask of activity is not a substitute for a life-giving relationship with God.

7. We fail to learn the lessons of the past and apply the wisdom that comes with it to our future.

Takeaway: The Pharisees failed to understand why their relationship with God was important. We must remember why we are here in the first place.
