Philippians: A Thankful Heart
SCRIPTURE
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. Philippians 1:3-5, ESV
A HEART LIKE PAUL
1/ Paul has a remembering heart.
2/ Paul has a thankful heart.
UNDERSTANDING INGRATITUDE
Remember the story of the ten lepers in Luke 17.
1/ Ingratitude is the result of misunderstood blessing.
When God blesses me, but I perceive it as something I deserve.
2/ Ingratitude is the result of misinterpreted blessing.
When God blesses me, but I perceive it as a curse.
3/ Ingratitude is the result of misapplied thanks.
When God blesses me, but I perceive it as something I earned.
4/ Ingratitude is the result of missed expression.
When God blesses me, but I fail to express my thanks.
A GRATITUDE LIKE PAUL
1/ We should express thanks for bad times and in bad times.
Giving thanks for bad times often comes later.
A great proof of our faith is when we are able to give thanks during bad times.
2/ We should express thanks for good times and in good times.
May God help us to never take the good for granted and to express our thanks!
Philippians: Remembering You In Prayer (Verses 3-11)
SCRIPTURE
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:3-11, ESV
