Sunday Worship October 21, 2018

Grace is foundational to our faith, yet one of the hardest things to wrap our heads around. It’s free, but costly. It’s the only path to life, but means dying. It’s for those who aren’t perfect and those who think they are. It’s extended to everyone, but only accepted by a few. It’s amazing and the best news ever, but we make it messy. Join us as we take a deep dive into God’s grace and the mess we make of it the next four weeks as we remember that grace is for everyone, grace is always loving, grace is always true, and that grace is for you.

Sermon Notes & Scripture
"Messy Grace: Grace is Always True"
Pastor Matt Schaffner

1 John 1:5-10

Grace is for everyone. Grace is always loving. But grace must also be true.
Knowledge of God's holiness is the beginning of understanding grace.
Knowledge of our sin is the end of understanding grace.
Grace is the antidote for counterfeit spirituality.
Counterfeit #1: The BIG Show.
Counterfeit #2: The JUSTIFYING Fake
Counterfeit #3: JUDGMENTAL Liar
Grace requires truth because when I'm honest, I see why grace is always loving: it sees me as I am and offers hope.
Monday is coming!
What happens Sunday is only as meaningful as what you do with it the rest of the week. This week dig deeply into the truth of God's Word and be reminded of the truth about who you are & who God is. Then turn and extend the same grace you've been given, choosing to live an authentic faith!
