Coming Again: What Do You Need Most?

Coming Again: What Do You Need Most?

It's Christmas at Southview! Pastor Nathan Wakefield begins our Christmas sermon series: Coming Again. This week we look to Micah and Isaiah to learn that Messiah is the only one who can fix the world's problems. Better leaders, good deeds, charitable programs, and anything else besides Messiah will never solve the problems. We need Messiah. Video of the worship service is available beginning Sunday at 9:30 AM at https://southviewbaptist.org/live.

1. We need the true shepherd to represent God (5:3).

• God is working toward a point when He will fully establish His Kingdom with his representative on the throne (Isaiah 9:6‑7).
• God's representative is the one who truly represents God's justice (Isaiah 61:1‑3).

Action: Take inventory of what Christ has accomplished and what He will still accomplish.
2. We need the true shepherd to care for us(5:4).

• The true shepherd stands and shepherds.
• The true shepherd draws on the LORD for strength.
• The true shepherd fully submits to God the Father.
• The true shepherd is able to keep his people in security.

Action: Recognize the true shepherd and make sure you are turning to the true shepherd for your care and provision.
3. We need the true shepherd to enjoy true peace (5:5‑9).

• The true shepherd can provide שָׁלוֹם (shalom) (5‑6).
• The true shepherd enables his people to act (7‑9).

Action: Check yourself; in whom are you trusting for your peace?
4. We need the true shepherd to root out evil from our world (5:10‑15).

• The true shepherd removes our dependence on things we cannot trust (10‑11).
• The true shepherd casts out evil (12).
• The true shepherd destroys false gods (13‑14).
• The true shepherd rules absolutely (15).

Action: As we move toward Christmas, take time to consider exactly how Jesus fulfills your deepest needs.
