Becoming a Man Of Strength

Mark 8:22-26 NKJV

22 Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him. 23 So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything.
24 And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.”

25 Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly. 26 Then He sent him away to his house, saying, “Neither go into the town, nor tell anyone in the town.” (Mk 8:22–26)

Being a male comes by birth but becoming a man takes work

A male will shout His Victories but a man finds victory in his vulnerabilities


v22 Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him.

1. HIS VULNERABILITY INVITED HIS VICTORY

Three Characters

The Blind Man
* His miracle began the moment he was willing to be led

The Friends
* My job isn’t to heal, its to bring to the healer


If a father does not go to church, even if his wife does, only 1 child in 50 will become a regular church attender. If a father does go regularly, regardless of what the mother does, between two-thirds and three-quarters of their children will attend church as adults. (barna)

The Healer
- Just one touch from the healer changes everything!


v23 So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything.

2. HIS VILLAGE WAS AFFECTING HIS VISION

Take note of the progression

First, Took Him By The Hand
Are you willing to let me touch what you don’t want to be touched?


Second, Led Him Out of Town
* Your village affects your vision, your environment affects your eyes

Third thing, Spit On Him

Fourth, He touches the man and (partially?) heals him

vs 23 He asked him if he saw anything. 24 And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.”

3. HE FOUND A BROTHERHOOD IN THE BLUR

Jesus doesn’t make mistakes. Jesus doesn’t do anything halfway.

This man was in a process


Every man needs a man who will
* Challenge them
* Confront them
* Comfort them

vs 25 Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly. 26 Then He sent him away to his house, saying, “Neither go into the town, nor tell anyone in the town.”

4. HIS RESTORATION REQUIRED A RELOCATION

This was a restoration of sight, he had seen before

It doesn’t matter what I’ve done or has been done to me, Jesus fully restores!

He doesn't look behind us to figure out what is ahead of us! Restoration means returning to his original plan!
