I Want to Be Like Jesus

I Want to Be Like Jesus

Following Jesus comes with many costs, trials, and tribulations. Today we look at the account of the apostle Steven, and what the costs were for him as he professed Jesus as the Christ and Messiah. How can we learn from his example to look beyond our obstacles and perils in life to keep our eyes and hearts fixed on Jesus? -------------- God can do amazing things through ordinary people who are empowered by the Holy Spirit. In the book of Acts, the Holy Spirit was given to all believers and the church was born. The church is God's chosen instrument in the world for sharing the good news about Jesus Christ. The book of Acts is all about the unhindered movement of God throughout the world as the gospel of Jesus Christ is proclaimed through the church. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, the early church was an unstoppable movement that proclaimed the Kingdom of God and Jesus Christ as the only way to eternal life. Today, the church empowered by the Holy Spirit is called to continue God's redeeming work in the world by fulfilling God's mission of making Jesus known to the ends of the earth.

Challenge: May we be able to look beyond our enemies, obstacles, problems, and perils in life and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. Regardless of our situation or circumstances, we must be ready to respond with godliness to the ungodly, even when it means losing comfort, reputation, friends, freedom, or even our very lives. 2 Timothy 1:7-8 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord.”
