God saves sinners through Jesus' work.
As serious as we are about gospel doctrine, we must be equally as serious about gospel culture.
Gospel culture is what happens when people live out the realities of the gospel, in the context of community.
“A church can unsay with its relationships what it has said in its doctrinal statements.” - Ray Ortlund
The church must live out gospel doctrine to create a gospel culture, because when a church does not have gospel culture, it shows it does not actually believe gospel doctrine.
Passions are desires that terminate on one self, allowed to run wild.
The primary reason for conflicts in the church is the questions we too often ask, “What about me?” - Shouldn't I have that? - Why don't I get that?
Conflict creates disunity, and disunity is not conducive to gospel culture.
Uncommunicated, and therefore unmet expectations lead to conflict.
1) Where there is a thriving gospel culture, there will be transparency.
2) Where there is a thriving gospel culture, there will be vulnerability.
“Gospel culture kills instagrammable christianity.” - Ray Ortlund
3) Where there is a thriving gospel culture, there will be long suffering.
4) Where there is a thriving gospel culture, there will be forgiveness.
5) Where there is a thriving gospel culture, there will be unity.
6) Where there is a thriving gospel culture, there will be prayer for one another.
7) Where there is a thriving gospel culture, there will be deep friendships.
