The "GTWY CODE" is a series of 13 sentences...daily reminders of how we believe God calls us to live. They begin with "We believe, we see, we recognize, we will, we intentionally, we craft, we invest, we feel, we view, we pursue, we strive, we value." The last sentence says: "We prioritize prayer as foundational and essential to everything we do." This Fall, we continue learning from Jesus and the gospel of Matthew, as the Sermon on the Mount focuses on PRAYER. Children memorize it, church going folk recite it. Students study it. But...what could happen in The Church...if we LIVED IT. Whether you call it "The Lord's Prayer" or "The Disciple's Prayer", please open your heart to learn directly from Jesus, as He calls us to "Pray Like This." The official "Model Prayer" from Jesus has concluded, but the remainder of Matthew 6 contains more relevant teaching from Jesus...in the same spirit. Today...we learn more about God's heart for FORGIVENESS.

“I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing.

-Jesus [John 15:5-MSG]
REVIEW [Earlier in PRAY LIKE THIS]

“and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.”

Matthew 6:12

THOSE WITH DEBT PAID –FORGIVE THOSE WITH DEBT OWED
How do I forgive when I’ve been mistreated? When I feel robbed?

How do I forgive when someone won’t repent or pursue reconciliation with me?
Confession doesn’t create a relationship with God, it simply nourishes it.

-Max Lucado
WHY MUST WE FORGIVE OTHERS?

It is the CHARACTER of God’s CHILDREN.

It follows the EXAMPLE of JESUS.

It celebrates the highest VIRTUE of HUMANITY.
“A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.”

-Proverbs 19:11 [NIV]
GRACE RECEIVED FUELS GRACE GIVEN

“Treat ME LORD, as I TREAT MY NEIGHBOR”

Our relationship with GOD can never be right…until our relationships with OTHERS are made right.
