Matthew 28:18-20

Mark 11:23-24

Today we are looking at what give us the right to use our authority here in the earth. Jesus sent out 72 to do Kingdom work. They come back rejoicing over their new found power, but Jesus gives them a lesson...

Luke 10:17-20

The language Jesus uses here just gets me. Don’t rejoice because you have power over the enemy. That’s nothing! Jesus says He watched him fall from heaven like lighting. He saw Lucifers demise and knows that the enemy has been completely displaced from any place of authority. He seems to say that their authority didn’t come from them overcoming the enemy but from His authority over the enemy. “Behold, I have given you authority...”

Jesus has given His body authority over the enemy!

And then, just before His ascension, almost like giving final instructions, Jesus says this:

Mark 16:17-18

This is not a fairytale. It is not a scripture for the Pentecostals or Charismatics or anyone one group. Interpret them however you must, but you cannot do away with the language of power and authority that is invest in the church by the one who holds all authority. Christ, the head of the church, has been given all power and authority and has brought us into His victory and His authority.

Christ has given us access to His authority.

We don’t have to live life just allowing things to happen to us and then use some religious response about it being “God’s will.” We don’t have to live “under the circumstances” when we have been called to rule and reign above them. Christ has given us access to His authority. He did not leave us powerless, but gave us power to extend His Kingdom.

Acts 1:8

We know that the word for power here is dunamus is the Greek and is where we get our English word for dynamite. What God has invested in His church is not small thing. It is power that can move mountains, that can make a difference and can bind and release things. It is His power invested in His people! And the focus is His Kingdom!

So simply stated Jesus gives us the right to use heaven’s authority. We have been made Ambassadors for His Kingdom. We are not on our own. We have been given authority and power to do what He has called us to do. He empowers us to accomplish His will.

God empowers us, by His Holy Spirit, to accomplish His will on earth.

We don’t have to just let stuff happen, we can make stuff happen.

Do you believe you have the right to walk in authority?
