Sunday 10:15 AM

Going Deeper is designed for use with your small group, a friend, or on your own. Its aim is to create time for you to spend with God and his word. Do as much or as little as you like. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact one of our pastoral staff.
1. Ground Rules for Life Groups. A) What is said in the group stays in the group (confidentiality is essential). B) Don’t try to fix people (listen and support). C) Don’t minimize other’s pain (be silent or validate their feelings). D) Focus on healing your own brokenness (listen intently to others, but don’t avoid or miss out on your own healing by trying to fix others.)
2. This Sunday, the message focus was titled: “The Cosmic Jesus.” The sermon introduced the book of Revelation and looked at the description of Jesus as Priest and King in Revelation 1. What thoughts or questions did
the sermon raise for you?
3. Read Revelation 1:12–16 & Daniel 7:9–10 & 13–14. Compare the description of Jesus in Rev. 1:12–16 with the Ancient of Days in Dan. 7:9–10 and the son of man in Dan. 7:13–14. What are the similarities between these two passages? And why are they important? What do these similarities tell us about who Jesus is?
4. Read Revelation 1:5–8 and 17–18. What words and phrases are
used here to describe Jesus? How can we find comfort in these
descriptions when we feel like our world is out of control? Or when we
feel like the future is hopeless?
5. Read Revelation 1:13 & 19–20. Notice that the seven lampstands
are representative of the seven churches John is writing to. Notice
what verse 13 says about where the son of man is in relation to the
lampstands. Why does it matter that he is “among” them? As a group
of churches in a hostile setting, what comfort might they have knowing
this? What comfort can churches, both in Canada and around the
world, take from knowing this?
5. Take a moment of silence to consider how God is speaking to you
through this message. Is God asking you to make changes or to do
something new? What concrete steps of response do you want to take?
Do you need to change how you think about who Jesus is? And how might
this change the way you feel about current circumstances and/or the
future? How can your group support you in this?
