Congregational Singing - I Stand Amazed
Expand
I stand amazed in the presence
Of Jesus the Nazarene
And wonder how He could love me
A sinner condemned unclean

Chorus
How marvelous how wonderful
And my song shall ever be
How marvelous how wonderful
Is my Saviour's love for me

He took my sins and my sorrows
He made them His very own
He bore the burden to Calvary
And suffered and died alone

Chorus
How marvelous how wonderful
And my song shall ever be
How marvelous how wonderful
Is my Saviour's love for me

When with the ransomed in glory
His face I at last shall see
'Twill be my joy through the ages
To sing of His love for me

Chorus
How marvelous how wonderful
And my song shall ever be
How marvelous how wonderful
Is my Saviour's love for me

Oh how He loves you and me
Oh how He loves you and me
He gave His life
What more could He give
Oh how He loves you
Oh how He loves me
Oh how He loves you and me

Jesus to Calv'ry did go
His love for sinners to show
What He did there
Brought hope from despair
Oh how He loves you
Oh how He loves me
Oh how He loves you and me

Giving

Your giving today supports the Gospel work of OPBC to Proclaim the Excellencies of Jesus in Powhatan and to the ends of the earth. Your giving supports THOUSANDS of missionaries around the globe, like the HAWTHORNES in THAILAND and the PRINCIVILS in SHERBROOKE, CANADA. Please pray for Jean-Marc Princivil in the sudden loss of his sister back in Haiti

GOD COMMANDS THAT WE LOVE ONE ANOTHER – THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL FOR BELIEVERS (4:7, 21)
1. WE LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS BELIEVERS
2. WE LOVE GOD AND LOVE OUR BROTHERS IN CHRIST

"And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”" (Matthew 22:35-40)

WHAT GOD COMMANDS, GOD PROVIDES. GOD PROVIDES LOVE FOR US IN HIMSELF – GOD IS LOVE AND LOVE COMES FROM GOD (4:7, 12, 16-17)

1. LOVE FOR OTHERS IS A SURE SIGN OF OUR SALVATION (John 1:12-13; John 15:4-5, 8-13)
2. LOVE FOR OTHERS IS THE CLEAREST WAY WE CAN HAVE CONFIDENCE BEFORE THE LORD THAT WE BELONG TO HIM
a. WE ARE INSPIRED BY GOD’S LOVE TO LOVE OTHERS – WE MAKE GOD KNOWN BY MAKING HIS LOVE KNOWN BY LOVING OTHERS
b. GOD HAS NOT LOVED ME AS AN END TO ITSELF – HIS DESIRE IN LOVING ME IS THAT I WOULD LOOK LIKE JESUS BY LOVING OTHERS
3. A LACK OF LOVE FOR OTHERS IS A SURE SIGN THAT WE HAVE NOT BECOME CHILDREN OF GOD BY FAITH IN JESUS (4:8, 20)

LOVE IS DEFINED BY THE NATURE OF GOD AND DEMONSTRATED IN THE SACRIFICIAL DEATH OF JESUS.

1. LOVE IS SHOWN IN JESUS COMING TO BRING US ETERNAL LIFE (4:9)
"“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
2. LOVE IS SHOWN BY JESUS TAKING THE WRATH OF GOD AGAINST SIN IN OUR PLACE (4:10)
"But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)
3. LOVE IS SHOWN BY HIM GIVING HIS SPIRIT TO ALL WHO CONFESS JESUS AS THE SON OF GOD, THE LORD (4:13-15)
4. LOVE IS SHOWN IN THAT NOW WE CAN HAVE CONFIDENCE BEFORE GOD AT JUDGMENT BECAUSE WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF GOD

AND IF THIS IS TRUE… SINCE HE HAS LOVED US IN THIS WAY… HOW CAN WE NOT LOVE?
Congregational Singing - How Deep the Father's Love for Us
Expand
How deep the Father's love for us
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts no pow’r no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

Congregational Singing - Good, Good Father
Expand
I've heard a thousand stories
Of what they think You’re like
But I've heard the tender whisper
Of love in the dead of night
You tell me that You’re pleased
And that I'm never alone

Chorus
You're a Good Good Father
It's who You are
It's who You are
It's who You are
And I'm loved by You
It's who I am
It's who I am
It's who I am

I've seen many searching for answers
Far and wide
But I know we're all searching for answers
Only You provide
Because You know just what we need
Before we say a word

Chorus
You're a Good Good Father
It's who You are
It's who You are
It's who You are
And I'm loved by You
It's who I am
It's who I am
It's who I am

You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways to us

You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways to us

Love so undeniable I can hardly speak
Peace so unexplainable I can hardly think
As You call me deeper still
As You call me deeper still
As You call me deeper still
Into love love love

Chorus
You're a Good Good Father
It's who You are
It's who You are
It's who You are
And I'm loved by You
It's who I am
It's who I am
It's who I am
