Heartland Community Church
Sunday Worship August 19, 2018
Habakkuk. Short little book in the Old Testament from a "minor" prophet, but it is a timely read for us today. Join us as we study the book of Habakkuk and see what God has to tell us about waiting, suffering, and so much more as we ask, "Why, God?"

Online Giving
Everything we do at Heartland starts with you. Working together, we accomplish more than any of us could alone. We encourage people to give generously as God has given to them, knowing we can't outgive God! If you'd like to be a part of that, you can give online by clicking here or text any dollar amount to 84321.

One of the best ways to grow spiritually is through serving. We'd love to get you plugged into a service opportunity that fits who you are, whether that's greeting, teaching a Sunday School class, cuddling the babies in the nursery, organizing other volunteers, singing, helping with security/safety, or baking up delicious goodies. For more information contact Pastor Matt (matts@heartlandgb.com or 913-216-3631) or Lori (lorij@heartlandgb.com).
"Why Them?"
Pastor Matt Schaffner
May God bless us with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, and superficial relationships so that we may live deep within our hearts.
May God bless us with anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people so that we may work for justice, freedom and peace.
May God bless us with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation and war, so that we may reach out our hand to comfort them and to turn their pain into joy.
May God bless us with enough foolishness to believe that we can make a difference in this world, so that we can do what others claim cannot be done. Amen.
What happens Sunday is only as meaningful as what you do with it the rest of the week. As we study Habakkuk, it's going to be challenging. It is easy to challenge, but hard to be challenged. As men and women of God, we must be willing to do both. Listen for God's voice and where He is challenging you- then accept the challenge and change. Talk with someone about the change God is calling you to and have them hold you accountable so you have someone journey with you!
This week, take some time to read Habakkuk 2.1-5 as we prepare for next Sunday. Pray God would speak through it to you, look at what it says, maybe write down any questions, and then thank God for what He spoke to you!
