ACTS 27

Sailing through life’s storms, it is important to remember:

1. There are no shortcuts to shore

“Then the sailors tried to abandon the ship; they lowered the lifeboat as though they were going to put out anchors from the front of the ship. But Paul said to the commanding officer and the soldiers, “You will all die unless the sailors stay aboard.” So the soldiers cut the ropes to the lifeboat and let it drift away.” v. 30-32

*The safest thing you can do in the storm is to stick with the process of remaining in his will through the storm.

2. Keep sailing through - persevere

“But now I urge you to keep up your courage, because not one of you will be lost; only the ship will be destroyed….So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me.” Paul - v.22, 25

*It’s not about our great faith but faith in a great God!

3. Practice God’s presence

“You have been so worried that you haven’t touched food for two weeks,” he said. 34 “Please eat something now for your own good. For not a hair of your heads will perish.” 35 Then he took some bread, gave thanks to God before them all, and broke off a piece and ate it.” Paul – v.33-35

*God desires to walk with us through the storm … invite him in daily.

4. Your response in the storm may encourage someone else in their storm.

“Then everyone was encouraged and began to eat— all 276 of us who were on board.” v.36-37

*You can be an agent of hope to others in the midst of your storm.

Remember:

The God who saved you for eternity and walks with you for life,
is the same God who sails with you through the storm.
