The Crossing
Week 23 of our sermon series "The Cure."
2 Peter 3:1-2 NIV
Peter writes to remind them of the upper story because we tend to forget what is happening at altitude.
His reminder is to change their thinking because what we think about ends up impacting our behavior.
As we consider all of the problems that must be navigated and all of the challenges that must be confronted, Peter reminds his readers and the Holy Spirit reminds us, we have all that we need.
2 Peter 1:3 NIV
We have a tool for every trouble. God has given us access through Himself, His Holy Spirit, and His Word to every tool we need for every trouble we face.
2 Peter 1:4 NIV
We have a heavenly promise for every problem.
2 Peter 1:5-7 NIV
In light of these gifts from God, we are called to do our part. We don’t and can’t earn my salvation, but we can respond to it.
When we do these things we get to experience greater closeness, greater dependence, and greater impact.
2 Peter 1:8-9 NIV
When we do our part it increases our impact. It keeps us from being ineffective.
2 Peter 1:10-11 NIV
Confirming your calling and election means to live up to your vows. To put on the team jersey. To live out your faith.
2 Peter 3:8-9 NIV
God’s time table is not your timetable. He is slow because he wants everyone to have a chance to repent and follow after him.
