The Birth of the Church: Week 4 - Phil Kendon
Acts chapter 3 is a dramatic chapter in the history of the church. It starts with the occurrence of an unexpected miracle - a healing for someone who may have felt overlooked - and ends with the message of salvation preached to all those who are willing to hear it. This is the message that has been passed on for 2,000 years and it is the current message of the church today. Jesus is the answer to all our questions and the fulfilment of our every need.

1. God overlooks no one (Acts 3:1-7)

This story tells us that though Jesus may not have healed the man when he walked past him in the temple, Jesus had not forgotten him. A time was coming when his prayers would be answered.
2. Miracles honour God, not the miracle worker (Acts 3:9-13)

Peter and John didn't take any glory for the miracle that occured. Instead, they pointed the people to the miracle worker: Jesus.
3. It's still a message about Jesus (Acts 3:16-20)

As in the previous chapter of Acts, the only thing Peter seemed to be able to talk about was Jesus and how we need to respond to his sacrifice on our behalf.
4. Jesus is the fulfilment of what we long for (Acts 3:21-24)

Jesus didn't look like the Messiah the Jewish people were expecting, but he was the fulfilment of everything they needed. In the same way, Jesus is the fulfilment of whatever we may be looking for.
Remember:
Jesus is the answer to all our questions and the fulfilment of our every need.
