The Birth of the Church: Week 1 - Phil Kendon
The book of Acts gives us a window into the early years of the church from the time Jesus ascended into heaven. It is exciting - full of adventure, miracles, challenges and the expansion of God’s kingdom. The story starts with the disciples waiting for Pentecost, when they will receive the Holy Spirit. It must have been daunting to think that Jesus had now left and the task he had left them to do was huge. But Luke tells us that the story of Acts is still the story of Jesus. He is still working through his body, the church, just as he was working in his own physical body before his ascension.

After walking with Jesus, only a life of spiritual intimacy with God could satisfy the early church.
