There is an ancient blessing recorded in the Bible that is the source of inspiration for a popular worship song in 2020. This blessing represents the heart of God towards his people, as they build a life of worship towards him. A worshipper in those times would have developed a close relationship with their priest, who guided them spiritually. In our day, we have Jesus as our priest. As we build a life of worship through our relationship with him, this blessing applies to our lives too. The song also speaks of God’s presence all around us, no matter what the circumstances. What a great source of comfort and strength this is for every follower of Jesus.
Numbers 6:24-26 NIV
1. The relationship between the priest and the worshipper
Building a life of worship with the priest as a guide brought the worshipper under the blessing of God.
2. Jesus is our priest
Building a life of worship in relationship with Jesus brings us into the blessing of God.
3. God is present even in the darkest places
Sometimes God’s presence is even more real in times of difficulty.
4. God is present with us in so many ways
We sense God’s presence through his Word, his Spirit, his peace and through other believers.
