1 Corinthians 15:18-19,55-56
1 Corinthians 15:16-20 The Message (MSG)
If corpses can’t be raised, then Christ wasn’t, because he was indeed dead. And if Christ weren’t raised, then all you’re doing is wandering about in the dark, as lost as ever. It’s even worse for those who died hoping in Christ and resurrection, because they’re already in their graves. If all we get out of Christ is a little inspiration for a few short years, we’re a pretty sorry lot. But the truth is that Christ has been raised up, the first in a long legacy of those who are going to leave the cemeteries.
1 Corinthians 15:51-57-51-57 The Message (MSG)
But let me tell you something wonderful, a mystery I’ll probably never fully understand. We’re not all going to die—but we are all going to be changed. You hear a blast to end all blasts from a trumpet, and in the time that you look up and blink your eyes—it’s over. On signal from that trumpet from heaven, the dead will be up and out of their graves, beyond the reach of death, never to die again. At the same moment and in the same way, we’ll all be changed. In the resurrection scheme of things, this has to happen: everything perishable taken off the shelves and replaced by the imperishable, this mortal replaced by the immortal. Then the saying will come true: Death swallowed by triumphant Life! Who got the last word, oh, Death? Oh, Death, who’s afraid of you now? It was sin that made death so frightening and law-code guilt that gave sin its leverage, its destructive power. But now in a single victorious stroke of Life, all three—sin, guilt, death—are gone, the gift of our Master, Jesus Christ. Thank God!
1 Corinthians 15:18-19 King James Version (KJV)
Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
1 Corinthians 15:55-56 King James Version (KJV)
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
1 Corinthians 15:18-19 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.
1 Corinthians 15:55-56 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law
1 Corinthians 15:18-19 New Century Version (NCV)
And those in Christ who have already died are lost. If our hope in Christ is for this life only, we should be pitied more than anyone else in the world.
1 Corinthians 15:55-56 New Century Version (NCV)
“Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your pain?” Death’s power to hurt is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
1 Corinthians 15:18-19 American Standard Version (ASV)
Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If we have only hoped in Christ in this life, we are of all men most pitiable.
1 Corinthians 15:55-56 American Standard Version (ASV)
O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting? The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law
1 Corinthians 15:18-19 New International Version (NIV)
Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.
1 Corinthians 15:55-56 New International Version (NIV)
“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
1 Corinthians 15:18-19 New King James Version (NKJV)
Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.
I Corinthians 15:55-56 New King James Version (NKJV)
“O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
1 Corinthians 15:18-19 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If we who are [abiding] in Christ have hoped only in this life [and this is all there is], then we are of all people most miserable and to be pitied.
1 Corinthians 15:55-56 Amplified Bible (AMP)
O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?” [Hos 13:14] The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin [by which it brings death] is the law
1 Corinthians 15:18-19 New Living Translation (NLT)
In that case, all who have died believing in Christ are lost! And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world.
1 Corinthians 15:55-56 New Living Translation (NLT)
O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power.
1 Corinthians 15:18-19 The Passion Translation (TPT)
It would also mean that those believers in Christ who have passed away have simply perished. If the only benefit of our hope in Christ is limited to this life on earth, we deserve to be pitied more than all others!
1 Corinthians 15:55-56 The Passion Translation (TPT)
So death, tell me, where is your victory? Tell me death, where is your sting? It is sin that gives death its sting and the law that gives sin its power.
