Psalms 120

Psalm 120
A song for going up to worship.
1When I was in trouble, I cried out to the Lord,
and he answered me.
2O Lord, rescue me from lying lips
and from a deceitful tongue.
3You deceitful tongue, what can the Lord give you?
What more can he do for you?
4He will give you a warrior’s sharpened arrows and red-hot coals.
5How horrible it is to live as a foreigner in Meshech
or to stay in the tents of Kedar.
6I have lived too long with those who hate peace.
7I am for peace, but when I talk about it,
they only talk about war.

A Song of Ascents.
1In #(Is. 53:6); Jer. 50:6; Matt. 18:12; Luke 15:4; (1 Pet. 2:25)my distress I cried to the Lord,
And He heard me.
2Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips
And from a deceitful tongue.
3What shall be given to you,
Or what shall be done to you,
You false tongue?
4Sharp arrows of the warrior,
With coals of the broom tree!
5Woe is me, that I dwell in #Jon. 2:2Meshech,
#Gen. 10:2; 1 Chr. 1:5; Ezek. 27:13; 38:2, 3; 39:1That I dwell among the tents of Kedar!
6My soul has dwelt too long
With one who hates peace.
7I am for peace;
But when I speak, they are for war.
