16
The First Bowl
1Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels,#Rv 8:2,6; 15:1,6–8 “Go and pour out the seven#16:1 Other mss omit seven bowls#Rv 17:1; 21:9 of God’s wrath on the earth.” 2The first went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and severely painful sores#Ex 9:9–11; Dt 28:27,35; Jb 2:7; Is 1:6; Jr 30:12–17 broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped its image.
The Second Bowl
3The second#16:3 Other mss add angel poured out his bowl into the sea. It turned to blood like that of a dead person, and all life in the sea died.#Rv 8:8–9
The Third Bowl
4The third#16:4 Other mss add angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water, and they became blood.#Ex 7:17–21 5I heard the angel of the waters say,
You are just,

because you have passed judgment on these things.

you have given them blood to drink;

7I heard the altar say,
Yes, Lord God, the Almighty,

The Fourth Bowl
8The fourth#16:8 Other mss add angel poured out his bowl on the sun. It was allowed to scorch people with fire, 9and people were scorched by the intense heat. So they blasphemed the name of God,#Lv 24:11; Is 52:5; Rm 2:24; 1Tm 6:1; Rv 13:6 who has the power#16:9 Or authority over these plagues, and they did not repent and give him glory.#Rv 9:20–21
The Fifth Bowl

The Sixth Bowl

The Seventh Bowl
