Ensuite il y a une fête juive, et Jésus va à Jérusalem. À Jérusalem, près de la porte des Moutons, se trouve une piscine avec cinq rangées de colonnes. En hébreu, on l’appelle Bethzata. Sous ces colonnes, beaucoup de malades sont couchés : des aveugles, des boiteux, des paralysés. [] Parmi eux, il y a un homme malade depuis 38 ans. Jésus voit qu’il est couché et il apprend que cet homme est malade depuis déjà longtemps. Il lui demande : « Est-ce que tu veux guérir ? » Le malade lui répond : « Seigneur, je n’ai personne pour me descendre dans la piscine quand l’eau se met en mouvement. Et pendant que j’essaie d’y aller, un autre descend avant moi. » Jésus lui dit : « Lève-toi, prends ta natte et marche ! » Aussitôt, l’homme est guéri. Il prend sa natte et il se met à marcher. Cela se passe le jour du sabbat. Alors des chefs juifs disent à l’homme guéri : « C’est le jour du sabbat, et tu n’as pas le droit de porter ta natte. » Il leur répond : « Celui qui m’a guéri m’a dit : “Prends ta natte et marche !” » Ces gens lui demandent : « Qui est cet homme qui t’a dit : “Prends ta natte et marche” ? » Mais celui qui a été guéri n’en sait rien. En effet, Jésus est parti, parce qu’il y avait beaucoup de monde à cet endroit. Plus tard, Jésus le rencontre dans le temple et il lui dit : « Maintenant tu es guéri. Ne commets plus de péché, sinon il t’arrivera quelque chose de plus grave. » L’homme va dire aux chefs juifs : « C’est Jésus qui m’a guéri. » Alors ils cherchent à faire du mal à Jésus, parce qu’il a guéri quelqu’un le jour du sabbat. Mais Jésus leur dit : « Mon Père travaille depuis toujours, et moi aussi, je travaille. » À cause de cette parole, les chefs juifs cherchent encore plus à faire mourir Jésus. En effet, Jésus ne respecte pas le sabbat. Mais surtout il dit que Dieu est son Père, et ainsi, il se fait égal à Dieu. Jésus reprend la parole et dit : « Oui, je vous le dis, c’est la vérité, le Fils ne peut décider lui-même ce qu’il doit faire. Il voit ce que le Père fait et il fait seulement cela. Ce que le Père fait, le Fils le fait aussi. Le Père aime le Fils et il lui montre tout ce qu’il fait. Il lui montrera des actions encore plus grandes, et vous serez très étonnés. En effet, le Père réveille les morts et il leur donne la vie. De la même façon, le Fils donne la vie à qui il veut. Et le Père ne juge personne, mais il a donné au Fils tout le pouvoir pour juger. Ainsi, tous respecteront le Fils, comme tous respectent le Père. Le Père a envoyé le Fils. Si quelqu’un ne respecte pas le Fils, il ne respecte pas non plus le Père. « Oui, je vous le dis, c’est la vérité, si quelqu’un écoute mes paroles et croit au Père qui m’a envoyé, il vit avec Dieu pour toujours. Il n’est pas condamné, mais il est passé de la mort à la vie.

Epi Li di Bondye se Papa l. Li fè pwòp tèt pa l egal ak Bondye.” Men jezi reponn yo: “Se vre! Amèn! Men m ap di tou: Pitit la pa kapab fè anyen poukont li. Li fè sa l wè Papa l ap fè sèlman. Papa a renmen Pitit la, Li montre Li tout sa l ap fè. Epi Papa a gen pou montre Pitit la bagay ki pi gwo toujou. Alò nou va sezi. Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. The day on which this took place was a Sabbath, and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.” But he replied, “The man who made me well said to me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’ ” So they asked him, “Who is this fellow who told you to pick it up and walk?” The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there. Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” The man went away and told the Jewish leaders that it was Jesus who had made him well. So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him. “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.
